Architectural Photography at The Ruskin Library and Research Centre at Lancaster University

My client CBS Workspace were justifiably proud of their painstaking ‘historic building’ refurb of the iconic Ruskin Library and Research Centre at Lancaster University which houses the important ‘Whitehouse Collection’ of drawings, prints and diaries relating to John Ruskin and his circle.. The new exterior lighting looked wonderful at night and that meant waiting until midnight to achieve the images that showed it at it’s best. Architectural Photography doesn’t always need sunshine! Worth waiting for!

The Classic Architectural Photography View which looks wonderful by day but now stunning by night.

“Metaphor and allusion were used in the planning and detail design”

“The sequence of spaces being deliberately church-like”

A glass bridge connects the gallery spaces.

The library is open to the public and needs to be seen to appreciate it’s extraordinary design
